Last season Raków Częstochowa won the Polish league for a first time in their history. Their success surprised a lot of people but now they are living their dream. And now the goal is to progress as much as possible in the European competitions.
Raków started their Champions League journey from the first round of the qualification phase. They faced the Estonian side Flora and progressed after two wins in the two matches. The Polish side was really dominant in the second leg away from home when they achieved a solid 3-0 win.
Last weekend Raków Częstochowa started the defense of their title in the Ekstraklasa with a dominant 3-0 win against Jagiellonia at home. Lukasz Zwolinski became the hero of the game as he scored twice for the three points.
Qarabag won’t be an easy opponent for the Polish team. Representing Azerbaijan, they are one of the most prominent teams in the country. They are also a team which already managed to reach the Champions League group stage in their history so far.
In the previous round of the qualifications Qarabag successfully eliminated Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps. And it didn’t surprise anyone, of course. The Azeri team scored five goals in the two games and showed its dominance.
